Boat Outing 2025

Lake St. Clair’s largest networking event didn’t disappoint! With 37 boats and over 200 attendees, the SMCC Charity Boat Outing and VIP Rendezvous After Party brought together chamber members for an unforgettable day of connection, relaxation, and philanthropy. From start to finish, the outing showcased what makes the Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce so unique—uniting business leaders for a day of fun while supporting causes that make a real difference in our community.

El Car Wash Warren

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrated the grand opening of El Car Wash’s third Michigan location on Saturday, July 12, with an exciting ribbon-cutting ceremony at 29511 Mound Road in Warren. Warren Mayor Lori Stone joined the celebration, highlighting the importance of continued business growth in the community. As the Official Car Wash of the Detroit Lions, El Car Wash made the day extra special by bringing out the Lions cheer squad and Roary the Mascot, much to the delight of attendees.

June 2025 Luncheon

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce hosted its June Networking Luncheon at Andiamo in Warren, featuring keynote speaker Angela Rogensues, At-Large City Councilwoman for the City of Warren, who shared exciting updates on infrastructure improvements, public safety initiatives, housing development, and regional partnerships supporting the defense industry. The event also celebrated charitable giving, with SMCC presenting $1,000 to the Martha T. Berry Foundation, Wound Biologics contributing $5,000 to MCREST, and the Warren Community Foundation—through proceeds from Cruisin’ 53—disbursing $5,000 each to the Warren Housing Commission, UAW Region 1 Veterans, and the Warren Police and Fire Benevolent Fund. 

McDonald's Groundbreaking

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce was proud to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for a brand-new McDonald’s location in Sterling Heights, situated at the bustling corner of M-59 and Mound Road. With an incredible turnout of more than 60 attendees—including Chamber members, city representatives, and community partners—the event marked an exciting milestone for economic growth and business development in the region.

Cruisin' 53 2025
Sunday, June 1, 2025

Cruisin’ 53 roared back into Center Line and Warren on Sunday, June 1, 2025, delivering a high-octane celebration of classic cars, community spirit, and charitable giving. Held at Ed Rinke Chevrolet Buick on Van Dyke, the event drew over 100 stunning vehicles and hundreds of local residents, raising thousands of dollars for local nonprofits. UAW Region 1 served as the presenting sponsor, with support from the Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Warren Community Foundation, and Warren Center Line Chamber of Commerce.

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrated the grand opening of BA Salon Collective in Shelby Township on Friday, May 30, 2025, with a vibrant and engaging ribbon cutting and art showcase event. Presented by the Women’s Business Alliance, this celebration drew a strong turnout of Chamber members, local residents, and community leaders—including Shelby Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis and representatives from Congressman John James’ office.

Charity Golf Classic
Friday, May 16, 2025

The 2025 SMCC Charity Golf Classic, held at Golden Hawk Golf Club in Casco, MI, brought together Chamber members and supporters for a full day of golf, networking, and philanthropy. Kicking off with a rifle salute from VFW Post 6250 and remarks by Chamber CEO John Johnson, the event featured a four-player scramble tournament with exciting contests like a $10,000 Hole-in-One, Vegas Hole, and Liquor Putting Challenge. Guests enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by the club, along with a cocktail networking reception and silent auction featuring items from Vera Bradley, SOZO, XGolf, and Testa Barra. In total, $15,000 was raised for Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, VFW Post 6250, and Neway Works, reinforcing the Chamber’s mission to create lasting community impact.

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce was proud to celebrate the grand re-opening of Saroki’s Crispy Chicken & Pizza at their new Warren location on May 15, 2025. The event, filled with excitement and energy, brought together Chamber members, community supporters, and special guests including Warren City Council Member Melody Magee and 37th District Court Judge Steve Bieda. The ribbon cutting took place at 5:00 PM, officially welcoming Saroki’s to the community with enthusiastic cheers and plenty of delicious food.

Groundbreaking: Baker & Associates

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted the groundbreaking celebration for EmpowerHome, an innovative affordable housing development led by member business Baker & Associates Realty Group. Located in Warren, EmpowerHome combines high-quality housing with education and support services such as financial literacy and homebuyer assistance, empowering residents to build long-term stability and wealth. Developed in partnership with the nonprofit Empowerment and Development Housing Resource Center (EDHRC), founded by Detroit native Faye Baker, the project reflects a shared mission to revitalize communities and expand economic opportunity. The Chamber is honored to support this transformative effort to uplift residents and combat blight through sustainable, purpose-driven development.

Utica Puppy Parade

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce launched its newest affiliate—the Sterling Heights Chamber of Commerce—with a joyful and impactful community celebration: the Utica Puppy Parade, held April 26 at Grant Park. Presented in honor of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, the event brought together local families, business leaders, and their beloved dogs for an afternoon filled with positive energy, smiles, and tail wags. The parade was led by the Eisenhower High School Marching Band and escorted by Utica’s Fire and Police Departments, following a special plaque dedication at Grant Park by Mayor Gus Calandrino and Councilman Thom Dionne. 

 

At Pioneer Park, attendees enjoyed food trucks, games, giveaways, and a warm on-stage program featuring remarks from Mayor Calandrino, Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, and Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson. In a show of continued community commitment, the Chamber proudly disbursed several grants to support local animal rescue organizations.

March Luncheon

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s March Luncheon featured newly elected Clinton Township Supervisor Paul Gieleghem, who shared insights on infrastructure challenges, economic redevelopment, and future growth. Utica Mayor Gus Calandrino introduced the Utica Puppy Parade, and CEO John Johnson highlighted MCREST’s Men’s Shelter renovation and the Mt. Clemens School Bond Proposal. The event also celebrated philanthropy, with $20,000 raised for Turning Point and additional donations to local nonprofits. The luncheon concluded with the inaugural Elected Official Lifetime of Service Award, honoring Flo Hayman and Harvey Curley for their decades of public service.

January Luncheon

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce welcomed a record-breaking crowd at its January Luncheon at Andiamo in Warren, featuring Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan as the keynote speaker. Duggan shared insights on Detroit’s resurgence, blight reduction, and economic revitalization, while members had the unique opportunity to meet and engage with the mayor. The event also featured the unveiling of the 2025 Chamber event calendar, the introduction of new networking initiatives, and the presentation of major nonprofit donations, reinforcing SMCC’s commitment to business growth and community impact.

Blake's Q&A with Duggan

Following the luncheon, Mayor Mike Duggan joined a select group of 45 young entrepreneurs for a private Q&A session at Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill in Armada. The discussion centered on improving education, workforce diversity, and fostering a stronger business climate in Michigan, with a strong emphasis on moving beyond partisan politics to drive economic success. This intimate event provided a valuable platform for rising business leaders to engage with one of the state’s most influential policymakers.

December Luncheon

The December Luncheon, held on December 5, 2024, at Andiamo Warren, was the Chamber’s largest networking event of the year. The event also honored outstanding individuals and businesses with Chamber Awards, celebrating their impactful leadership and service to Southeast Michigan. Additionally, the Political Action Coalition Report highlighted the Chamber’s success in supporting 32 of 37 winning candidates in the 2024 elections, reinforcing its role in shaping a prosperous business climate.

October Luncheon

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s October Luncheon at Zuccaro’s in Chesterfield featured impactful community giving, insightful election updates, and engaging discussions. Checks were presented to local organizations like the Chesterfield Police Benevolent Fund and Fire Department Equipment Fund, reinforcing the Chamber’s commitment to regional growth. Keynote speaker Anthony Forlini, Macomb County Clerk, provided an in-depth look at election integrity efforts ahead of November 5, while SMCC CEO John Johnson’s much-anticipated election predictions sparked lively conversations.

North Gratiot Cruise

The North Gratiot Cruise on September 28, 2024, was a lively community celebration filled with activities for all ages, including a car show, 5K run, craft fair, Kid Zone, and live performances by Spooky Sterling. The day’s highlight was the car parade down Gratiot Avenue, alongside events like the cornhole tournament and Tailgate Zone. Thanks to sponsorship from local businesses, attendees enjoyed a showcase of community support. The event concluded with the Car Show Awards, crowning a day of fun, family, and connection.

The event celebrated collaboration and impact, featuring updates on Chamber initiatives, recognition of new members, and presentations of checks to local organizations like Macomb County Winter Shelter and Habitat for Humanity. Keynote speaker Mark Hackel, Macomb County Executive, inspired attendees with insights on regional initiatives, while Christopher Taylor from United Way of Southeastern Michigan highlighted critical community needs and programs. The luncheon also showcased the J.W. Westcott Company and previewed upcoming Chamber events, underscoring the organization's commitment to shaping Southeast Michigan's future.
