The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce September Luncheon was a remarkable gathering at Andiamo in Warren of community leaders, members, and stakeholders, all united to celebrate collaboration and impact. Attendees were welcomed with updates on the Chamber’s initiatives and a recognition of new members who have joined this vibrant network.

This month, checks were presented presented checks to several local organizations, including Macomb County Winter Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Turning Point, Warren Police Officers Association, and MCREST. These contributions, part of over $600,000 distributed since 2019, represent the Chamber’s unwavering commitment to strengthening Southeast Michigan through strategic support and partnerships.

The highlight of the afternoon was a powerful address by Mark Hackel, Macomb County Executive, whose leadership and vision have transformed the region. Hackel shared insights on key county initiatives, including infrastructure advancements and programs that enhance the quality of life for residents and businesses. His words left the audience energized, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Also featured as a speaker was Christopher Taylor, Community Engagement and Outreach Director for United Way of Southeastern Michigan. Taylor shed light on the ongoing challenges faced by families across the region, emphasizing the organization’s innovative programs to address critical needs like housing, healthcare, and food security. He also introduced United Way’s Fulfillment Center program, which connects nonprofits with essential donated resources.

In addition to the keynote, the luncheon featured a spotlight on the J.W. Westcott Company, an iconic maritime service provider in the Port of Detroit, whose story of innovation captivated attendees. Guests also previewed the Chamber’s upcoming events, including a leadership gathering in October, promising further opportunities to engage and grow together. From networking opportunities to community-building reflections, the event was a testament to SMCC’s vital role in shaping the region’s future.
