The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce was proud to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for a brand-new McDonald’s location in Sterling Heights, situated at the bustling corner of M-59 and Mound Road. With an incredible turnout of more than 60 attendees—including Chamber members, city representatives, and community partners—the event marked an exciting milestone for economic growth and business development in the region.

This will be the eighth McDonald’s owned and operated by Ovi Datta and his family, who continue to build a legacy of entrepreneurship and community service. With more than 400 employees across his restaurant locations, Datta is known for prioritizing people—offering his team members free meals, medical benefits, and college tuition assistance. His impact on the workforce and his commitment to education, exemplified by his children’s success as University of Michigan alumni, has made him a respected business leader in Southeast Michigan.

The Chamber was especially pleased to see such enthusiastic support from our membership base and partners like Connect Macomb. Despite a tight planning window, our members showed up in force—demonstrating the strength and unity of our local business community. The energy at the event was electric, and the anticipation for this new McDonald’s location, slated to open later this year, is already building.
