Chamber Joins 500 Organizations Signing USMCA Letter

Southeast Michigan Chamber Joins National Effort to Protect U.S.-Canada-Mexico Trade Deal
The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce has joined more than 500 business and agricultural organizations from across the country in signing a coalition letter to the U.S. Congress reaffirming support for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The agreement is a cornerstone of modern North American trade, securing virtually tariff-free access to two of our most vital export markets. More than 13 million American jobs depend on trade with Canada and Mexico—including over 100,000 small and medium-sized businesses. Together, these countries account for more U.S. manufacturing exports than the next 12 markets combined, and one-third of all American agricultural exports.
The joint letter urges congressional leaders and Ambassador Greer to preserve and improve the USMCA during its current joint review process, highlighting the immense value it delivers to U.S. manufacturers, farmers, service providers, and workers. While some compliance issues remain, the letter calls for collaboration—not rollback—to ensure continued market access and competitiveness for American businesses. The trade agreement plays a crucial role in strengthening supply chains, boosting regional job growth, and securing the economic future of countless communities—including right here in Southeast Michigan.
As a regional Chamber deeply rooted in a hub of international commerce, the Southeast Michigan Chamber’s participation in this coalition effort underscores our ongoing commitment to supporting policies that promote free trade, job creation, and economic expansion. We are proud to stand alongside national industry associations, state chambers, and local organizations to protect the business community’s voice in shaping smart, sustainable trade policy.
