Continued Services for Roughly 700,000 Residents Across the Region

The Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce congratulates Priority Waste, a valued Corporate Sponsor and longtime community partner, on being awarded a five-year contract extension with Clinton Township to continue providing residential waste services. The Clinton Township-based company, which now services roughly 700,000 residents across the region, received approval from the township’s Board of Trustees following a 4-2 vote—solidifying its role as the local leader in refuse collection for Michigan’s largest township.

The decision comes after a challenging transition last year, when Priority Waste acquired GFL Environmental’s residential contracts. While the transition period was marked by delays and staffing adjustments, Priority Waste quickly invested in new equipment, implemented enhanced technology including on-truck cameras for better service tracking, and improved customer service response times. “We took over a disaster,” said CEO Todd Stamper, “and have worked to turn the company’s direction around since then.” Clinton Township Trustee Bruce Wade echoed the sentiment: “They’ve made great progress and improved services. It’s not perfect, but they are constantly trying to improve.”

Beyond operations, Priority Waste is investing in people and culture. The company now offers higher wages, with many drivers earning up to $30/hour, creating a stronger and more motivated workforce. With a young, energized team at its Clinton Township headquarters, Priority Waste is focused on long-term stability, service, and community partnership. The five-year agreement—set to take effect when the current contract expires in March 2026—includes a pricing increase from $13.65 to $17.50 per household per month, offering residents cost predictability while ensuring continued upgrades in service delivery.

As a chamber committed to supporting businesses that lead through growth and accountability, SMCC applauds Priority Waste for their transparency, innovation, and commitment to reinvest in the communities they serve.
